What Are Your Thoughts?? (01/14/10)
And so begins another decade. What a great time for reflection. Are things in your life not exactly where you'd like them to be? I have very good news, you have the power to change. It all begins with your thoughts. What you think evolves into what you say and what you do. What you think tells the universe what you want.
March 28, 2000 I made the decision to quit smoking. For weeks I looked in the mirror (sometimes pulling out my hair!) and looked myself in the eye and repeated "I am a non-smoker". Eventually I believed it and today, nearly ten years later, I am a non-smoker. "I am" is a great way to retrain your mind to think your way to success. Remember, thoughts evolve into words that evolve into action. I would love to hear your success stories.
Here's to the best you in 2010!!
Technology... (11/05/09)
We have had the worst luck with my HP Compaq Presario. Owned it 2 years and had to replace the keyboard because keys were falling off. A few months later my mother board went out, within a few weeks, it went out again!
I can't believe how disconnected I felt without my laptop in the store. No emails, no research, no access to co op website, no Facebook!! Having two kids in college, my home computer is always in use when I get home. I was lucky to do a quick email check and that was it.
The great guys at Hometown Computer in downtown Fenton have taken very good care of me. This last time it took awhile for the diagnosis, we had to go by process of elimanation, so I was without a system for a month. I highly recommend them as I really trust them. They worked hard to get me a workable resolution. I am done putting time and money into my old system and have a nice, newer, affordable system that works!!
It is amazing how connected we are with our technology. Is it a curse or is it a blessing? I finally feel like I can work at 100% capability, whereas before I'd have said about 70%. What did we do before computers??
A Simple Fishing Tale (08/06/09)
One of our families favorite activities is fishing. While my kids were very active teenagers we had to give it up for a few years. Now it is a couples activity. Scott and I set Sunday morning fishing dates and head out to a beautiful, remote channel of lakes. No houses just the sound of the wildlife around us. This last Sunday we decided to go into a channel to a lake only heard of but never seen. What a great decision that was!! Took some work getting in and getting out, but the fishing was awesome. We caught 31 bluegill in just a few hours. It turns into a family affair when we get home and Scott and Cameron clean the fish together. Cameron loves to touch everyone of them and does anything Grandpa asks. He watches everything Grandpa does during the process, taking every bit of it in. Of course, we then share the bounty with our neighbors on a Sat night dinner together. I am so glad we found time to put fishing back into our schedule.
New Family Member (07/19/09)
April 1, 2008 Scott and I had to put down our beloved Black Lab, Dakota. We are both in our second marriage and often joked that Dakota was the child we had together. He came into our family just a few months after we were married. Dakota was a one of a kind. The perfect fit for our family and our lifestyle.
I decided then that there would be no more dogs in the Dues household. Well, dog lovers know that a home without a dog is empty. We made the decision that we would rescue a dog, but it had to be a perfect fit.
We searched on the internet, went to dog shelters, scoured the papers, on Father's Day we found her. A beautiful, five year old Chocolate Lab, Maggie. She is her own one of a kind, but a perfect fit for our family and our lifestyle. Amazing what can happen when your heart and mind are open!
Best Father's Day gift Scott has ever received!!
